Anna Mae Lares

Anna Mae Lares, age 85, of West Jefferson, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 25, 2021. We have no doubt she was welcomed by her family and friends but most importantly by her Lord and Savior, saying “well done thou good and faithful servant.” Anna died from heart failure. She was born September 3, 1935, in West Jefferson. She was a 1953 graduate of West Jefferson High School. Anna graduated from Mount Carmel School of Nursing in 1956. She then worked for Mount Carmel Hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) on the orthopedic floor. She was a member of the West Jefferson Church of Christ in Christian Union (Harvest Chapel) where she loved playing the piano/organ, taught Sunday School for thirty-plus years, sang in the choir, was involved in the prison ministry, and was the Vacation Bible School Director for several years. Anna was a Campfire leader and she assisted her husband with the Webelo troop. She was an avid reader, loved studying the Bible, memorizing scripture, and enjoyed taking walks throughout West Jefferson. She also enjoyed playing the organ for many weddings. Survived by children, Debra (Tim) Montgomery of Delaware, Vicki Lares of Galloway, David Lares of West Jefferson and Stephanie (Scott) Krummel of Galloway; grandchildren, Luke Montgomery; Seth (Jane) Montgomery, Joel (Abby) Montgomery, Elyse (Samuel) Montgomery Stover; Abigail, and Sarah Krummel; great-grandchildren, Elliana, and Jacob Montgomery; sister Mary Lou Turner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Lares; parents Harold and Nellie Ferguson, Sr., brother Harold Ferguson, Jr., sisters and brothers-in-law Donna (Art) Sibbalds, Jeanie (John) Rogers, brother-in-law Gene Turner, and nephew Johnny Rogers. The family will receive friends Friday, January 29, 2021, from 4-7 pm, at the Harvest Chapel Christian Union, 530 West Jefferson-Kiousville Road SE, West Jefferson, OH, 43162. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 11 am at the Harvest Chapel Christian Union Church, with Pastors Phil Conrad, and Danny Whisner officiating.
