Barbara Butterbaugh

Barbara Butterbaugh (née Daft) aged 78 years, of West Jefferson, entered into heaven on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at The Wexner Medical Center. 

Born to Cecil and Margie Daft in Wellston, Ohio, Barbara was raised alongside her three brothers and five sisters in Columbus. In 1962, she graduated from West High School where she met the love of her life, Ernest Butterbaugh. They were married June 26, 1965, and spent 40 wonderful years together before his passing in 2005. Barbara was a kind soul, as sweet as her favorite vanilla ice cream that was her almost-daily indulgence. Her family was the center of her life, and she dedicated her time to being an integral part of their lives. She worked at Sears Distribution Center for over 19 years and then transitioned to Medco Health Solutions for multiple years. She enjoyed talking on the phone with her sisters and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, caring for her plants, and dominating the games Candy Crush and Words with Friends on her tablet. Her presence will be missed dearly. 

Barbara is survived by daughter Shelley (husband Douglas) Ellinger; grandchildren Mitchell (wife Cynthia) Ellinger, Dana (husband Patrick) Dalton, and Martin Ellinger; great-grandchildren Theodore Ellinger, Anne Ellinger, and Juniper Dalton; sisters Kathy (husband Bill) Cantley, Wanda (husband Michael) Harmon, Sherry (husband Mike) Bowers, Diane (husband Fred) Karimian; brother Dwayne Daft. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Patricia Daft, and brothers Frank Daft and Larry Daft. 

A visitation for family and friends will be held on TUESDAY, October 29, 10am-12pm, at RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W. Main Street, West Jefferson, Ohio, 43162, with Funeral Service immediately following visitation at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Alton Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be given to the American Heart Association to further the treatments and prevention of heart disease and stroke. Donations can be made online at heart.org in her memory or via phone at 800-242-8721.
