Barbara Jean Gaffney

In Loving Memory of Barbara Jean Gaffney, age 85, we are saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, July 11, 2024. She died at Dublin Methodist Hospital surrounded by her family. Barbara was born August 31, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Lester Downing and Dixie (Smith) Downing. She was employed at BMV of Ohio and later as an Administrative Assistant at the Ohio State Engineers and Surveyors Board. Barbara enjoyed family time, shopping, traveling, sewing and square dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Luther Gaffney, her sister Martha Eaton and her son-in-law Robert Fischer, Jr. Barbara is survived by her three daughters: Christy Fischer, of West Jefferson, Ohio, Donna (Ray) Andres, Jr., of Goshen, Ohio, and Cheryl (William) Bumgarner, of Plain City, Ohio; six grandchildren: Jeanne Andres, James Andres, Jason Fischer, Brandi (Brad) Tharp, Amy (Brian) Piggrem, and Carrie (Cody) Walti; her nine great-grandchildren: Mia, Kadena, Scarlett, Chloe, Loralei, Connor, Liam, Bell, and Cora; many nieces and nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. on Tuesday with the funeral service at 10:00am Wednesday July 17 at the Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, Ohio 43162 (614)-879-9222. Pastor Blaine Keene will be officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 West Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio. Pallbearers will be William Bumgarner, Ray Andres, James Andres, Jason Fischer, Brad Tharp and Cody Walti.
