Barbara Ooten

Barbara Jane (McDonald) Ooten, born on October 1, 1939, to Everett and Nell (Brown) Mcdonald in Huntsville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, in Grove City, Ohio, at home surrounded by loved ones.

As a child, Barbara grew up in the family restaurant along with her brothers and sisters. There she developed a passion for cooking. As a teenager, it was in that very restaurant where she met the love of her life Cecil Ooten.

She enjoyed attending car shows along with being a member of her husband's car club Buckeye Classic Cruisers, sitting back and watching her favorite shows including Gunsmoke and The Rifleman, and collecting minions.

Barbara's faith was an integral part of her life, as a member of Harvest Chapel in West Jefferson. At the heart of her world was her family; six sisters including a special bond of a twin, and four brothers. The thing she loved above all else was spending time with her family all around her on Sundays after church for a home-cooked meal prepared by her. She cherished moments with her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Barbara devoted her life to being a loving housewife, mother, sister, grandmother, and even a great-grandmother. 

She leaves behind her children Cecila Ooten, Debra Ooten, Dennis (Cookie) Ooten, and Cynthia Gollihue; grandchildren: Alicia, Elizabeth, Tommy, Kayla, Kimberly, Katie, Johnathon, and Jacob; great-grandchildren: Kristian, Julia, Jensen, Hayden, Holley, Lilly, Johnny and Claira; sisters Grace, Ann and Betty; brothers Buddy and Bobby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Cecil D. Ooten; sisters Rosemary, Jude, and Genevieve and brothers Howard and Clayton.

Visitation will be held THURSDAY, September 19, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Services conducted by Pastor Debbie Tackett immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at the RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W Main St, West Jefferson, OH 43162. Interment will follow at Alton Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
