Beverly Kay Whaley

Beverly Kay Whaley, 78, of West Jefferson passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving a large heartbroken family and many, many friends who loved her dearly. She was born December 6, 1939 to parents Alberta Green and Donald Collins, Beverly married her husband of 59 years, Tommy Whaley, on September 13, 1958. Beverly was a loving, caring friend to everybody she met, welcoming them into her family circle and opening her home to all, being called Mom by generations of young people who she was always deeply interested in. Talented in countless ways, she was famous for her home-baked chocolate chip cookies, gifted everyone with her knitted or crocheted afghans, scarves, dishcloths, and baby blankets, shared her phenomenal skills and painting and crafting, and for many years headlined Bev's Bazaar here in West Jefferson. She loved cooking and gardening, willingly giving away starts of her grandmother's Christmas cactus that displayed over 300 brilliant pink blooms each winter. Above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends celebrating the good moments in life, enjoying the VFW Post 7005, the Shawl Sisters, Madison County Relay for Life, her Monday night card club, her longtime Bunco group, and many summers at Jamboree-in-the Hills. Besides her loving husband Tommy, Beverly is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Donald, Bruce and Teresa, Jimmy and Michelle; her grandchildren Nikki (Mike), Adam (Angel), Shane (Katie), Mitch, and Zach; her great-grandchildren who endlessly delighted her, Sarah, Evan, Skylar, Bri, Lucas, Gracie, and Scarlet; her brothers Terry (Sandi), Keith (Linda), Dale (Pam), and sister-in-law Connie Collins; step brother Mark (Marilyn) Green; brother-in-law Eugene Whaley and sister-in-law Delorse (Bill) Vawter; many loved nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Douglas, great-granddaughter Emalee, sister Carole Ann, brother Brad, step-father Ralph Green and step-brother Mike Green. The family will receive friends Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at the RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME 1355 W. MAIN ST. WEST JEFFERSON, OH 43162. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 with the Pastor Ruth Pribe officiating. Interment will be immediately after at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
