Charles E. Peters

Charles E. Peters, age 95, of West Jefferson, OH, passed away at home on Sunday, February 9, 2020.  Born in Lawrence County, OH to the late Jewel and Stanley Peters, Charles was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School, Class of 1942.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, Air Corps during WWII attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant and flew 33 missions over Europe as a Radio-Gunner on a B-26 Bomber.  For his actions, Charles was awarded the Air Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars.  After the war, he began his employment with Westinghouse and retired in 1976.  He worked with H&R Block, in London, for many years thereafter.  Charles and his wife Doris were National Wagon Masters for Gulf Stream RV.  He was a member of Madison Lodge #221, F&AM, West Jefferson, OH and attended West Jefferson United Methodist Church.  He was an avid card player and loved to play cards at the Madison County Senior Center.  Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris, his son Gerald, daughter Beverly, brother Thomas, and sisters-in-law Lucile and Marcella.  He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law David A. and Paula Peters of West Jefferson, daughter-in-law Sally Creasap of Grove City, OH; grandchildren: Scott (Robin) Peters, Chad Peters, Cheri (Mark) Cowper, Wendy Eckert (Louis Miller), Megan (Tyler) Vermillion, and Emily Creasap, great-grandchildren: Sonja (Matt) Gilley, Ian (Samantha) Peters, Zane Peters, Zoey Peters, Dakota Cowper, Sierra Cowper, Benjamin Eckert, Gracyn Eckert, and Amelia Vermillion; great-great-grandchildren: Aubri Holland, Kenzie, Dylan, and Lyla Gilley and Joslyn and Olivia Peters; brother Howard Peters of Mutual, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. TUESDAY at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2020 at the WEST JEFFERSON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 36 South Center Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 where family will receive friends before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. WEDNESDAY.  Pastor Ruth Pribe, officiating.  Burial will be held at Fairview Union Cemetery, Mutual, OH.  If they choose, friends may make memorial contributions to: Loving Care Hospice of Madison County www.lovingcare.us or the Madison County Senior Center at www.mcsenior.org.  Please share your favorite memory of Charles on this webpage or send your condolences to his family.  www.radermcdonaldtiddfuneralhome.com
