Charles A. Zimmerman

Charles “Chuck” A. Zimmerman was known for his ornery wit, handsome mustache, and extensive knowledge of facts and trivia. He passed away peacefully at age 79 in the presence of loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bernice and Leo Zimmerman, parents-in-law Kennard and Mary Forrest, brother and sister-in-law Donald L. and Show Mei Zimmerman, brother-in-law Kenneth Leroy Smith, son Brian A. Zimmerman, and grandson Derek Abel.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 51 years Diane L. Zimmerman, son Kenneth Michael (Sherry) Chapin Jr. , daughter Erin (Richard Owens) Nelson, grandchildren Gideon (Amara Ruckdaschel), Paul Chapin and Isabella Rivera, sister-in-law Carol (Gary) Beck, nieces Ami (Stuart) Stivers and Fawn (Justin) Dumke , nephew Lee (Uyen Do) Zimmerman, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews and friends.

Chuck was a 1964 graduate of Grandview Heights HS. He went on to proudly serve 6 years in the US Marine Corp Reserves and then went on to work hard to support his family as a proud Teamsters member and truck driver for over 30 years before retiring. 

He loved food, especially sweets. He also loved a good cup of coffee with his sports page in the morning, and a classic Coke whenever possible.

Chuck loved family trips to Gulf Shores Alabama, answering all the questions on Jeopardy, mowing the lawn with his John Deere tractor in the summer and stoking fires in his wood-burning stove in the winter.  Chuck was also a well-conditioned armchair quarterback who rooted for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. 

His comic timing and charm endeared him to many during his stay at London Health and Rehab in his later years.

Chuck’s memorial service will be at 11am Monday,  April 22, 2024, at Big Darby Baptist Church, 6921 NE Plain City-Georgesville Rd, Plain City Ohio, with visitation at 10am.
