Dr. Joe D. Wiese, D.D.S.

Dr. Joe D. Wiese D.D.S. was born on July 24, 1935 in Tuscola, Illinois. He died on August 23, 2022 at Hoover Haus in Grove City, Ohio. Joe moved to Grandview Heights, Ohio from Illinois as a child. After graduating from Grandview Heights High School in 1953, he attended Ohio State University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Anatomy in 1960, and continued his education at Ohio State University School of Dentistry. After receiving his Doctorate of Dental Science in 1964, Dr. Wiese established his dental practice in West Jefferson, Ohio. He continued to practice family dentistry until his retirement in 2002. Dr. Wiese always said he had the best patients in the whole world and would regularly sing to them to put them at ease. Many patients would refer to him as the singing dentist.

Joe married Barbara Ann Kiraly on August 24, 1963 in Columbus Ohio. The loves of his life were his wife and children. He treasured time spent together in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, traveling, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. He especially loved working on projects and fixing anything and everything in his pole barn. Joe was an avid OSU football fan and golfer. He took many salmon fishing trips to Michigan with close friends. He enjoyed the companionship of dear friends: Marilyn and Dave Eberhart, Marge and Max Berchtold, Barb and Gary Heiman, Charlotte and Don Manger, Richard and Sue Dible.

Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Wiese, his daughter, Janine Conway (Mike), son, Joe D. Wiese Jr. (Pathporn), and seven grandchildren: Joelle Conway, Drake Sidner, Yasha Shatalov, Tonya Conway, Joseph Conway, Pearl Jones and Sophia Wiese; exchange student son, Geir Hakensen of Oslo, Norway; sister, Judy Holcomb; nephews Kenneth Holcomb (Jamie), Doug Holcomb (Miriam), Bruce Holcomb (Jodie); Sarah Nichols (Steve). Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul E. and Jane Wiese, and brother, Paul C. Wiese.

Joe lived the last 15 months of his life at Hoover Haus in Grove City, Ohio, where he was cared for with dignity and love by the entire staff. Donations in his memory may be made to Hoover Haus (3675 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio 43123).

The family will welcome friends for Visitation Friday, August 26, 2022, from 4-7 P.M., at the RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W. MAIN STREET, WEST JEFFERSON, OH, 43162. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the SAINTS SIMON AND JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, OH, 43162, with Father Bob Kitsmiller officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, West Jefferson, OH.
