Edgar "Mr. Ed" O Estep

Edgar O. “Mr. Ed” Estep, age 88, a long-time resident of West Jefferson, OH, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Sisters Elderly Care on Main in London, OH.  Born in Johnson County, KY to the late Richard and Elizabeth Estep, he was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force.  A barber in West Jefferson for over 55 years, Mr. Ed owned and operated Mr. Ed’s Brown and Gold Barber Shop on Main Street.  He was an active and involved citizen of West Jefferson.  Mr. Ed was a member of Madison Lodge #221, F. & A.M., Clarence Bo Casto VFW Post # 7005, Jefferson Post #201 American Legion for over 60+ years, a member of the West Jefferson Community Association, a Founding Member of the Optimist Club, an Ox Roast Committee member and was named Grand Marshal in 2008.  Although not a Village Council Member, he served on many various committees.  He was also an Auxiliary Ohio State Patrolman.  Mr. Ed served as a West Jefferson High School Band Booster President and was an avid and loyal Roughrider football fan being named “Fan of the Year” on two occasions.  He missed only two games from 1958-2015.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Estep who passed in 2009, his daughter Paula Brown, sisters Annie Salyer and Joyce Jordan, brother Goebel “Butch” Estep, and grandsons Edgar Brown and Jerry Whitt.  He is survived by his son Jeff (Kathryn Kessler) Estep, daughter Carol (Geoff) Langermeier, grandchildren: Elizabeth “Libby” (Carl) McClellan, Rachel (Mike) Wagner, Eric Langermeier, T.J.
