Freda Corney

Freda M. Corney, 85, of West Jefferson, OH passed away on July 15th, 2023.  Freda was born in Matewan, WV on May 9, 1938 to Otis and Nora (Kincade) Davis. 

She is survived by her children, Libby (Charles) Corney and Michael (Connie) Corney; her grandchildren Levi (Amanda) Corney, Brenda (Mack) Macalou and Chad Corney; her great-grandchildren Ashton Corney, Marley Macalou, Frieda Macalou, Madina Macalou and Montana Michael Corney along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Freda was preceded in death by her husband Henry E. Corney, her son, Bryan L. Corney, her parents and her siblings, James (Bethel) Davis, Bill (Clarisjean) Davis, Emma (Willie) Wilson (Davis), Julie (Ernest) Johnson (Davis), Richard (Faye) Davis, Kathleen (Jerry) Davis, Patty Fields (Davis), Roy (Elizabeth) Davis, Phyllis (Larry) Kelly (Davis), Larry (Rita) Davis and Karen (Rick) Holden and her daughter in law, Diane Corney.

Freda worked for White Westinghouse and then retired from Fisher Cast Steel Products in West Jefferson.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Jefferson.  She loved gardening, especially roses.  Her roses won awards in various competitions through the years.  Freda also enjoyed playing Bunko.  She was an avid fan of the Oak Ridge Boys with the pictures to prove it.  She loved preparing and sharing holidays.   Christmas was her favorite.  Over all, Freda loved her family and friends and cared every way she could for them.

The family will receive friends for a visitation for Freda at Rader McDonald Tidd Funeral Home, 1355 W. Main St. in West Jefferson, OH on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 11-12 PM.  A funeral service will follow at 12 noon.  Then she will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery following the service.
