Gordon I. Shaw

Gordon I. Shaw, age 91, of West Jefferson, OH, formerly a longtime resident of Columbus, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Born in Columbus, he was a graduate of Columbus North High School, Class of 1943 and attended Otterbein College. Gordon was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for the New York Central Railroad before becoming the office manager of Capitol Tunneling Inc. He retired after more than 30 years of service. He was a wonderful father and husband, and a loving grandfather and great grandfather. An avid golfer, Gordon and his wife, Eleanor, spent many years at their home in Sarasota, FL. He was a former member of Indianola Church of Christ. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Idella Shaw; first wife, Betty Shaw; brother, James Shaw. Gordon is survived by his wife of 18 years, Eleanor Shaw; children, Gordon I. Shaw Jr., Thomas A. (Denise) Shaw, Clifford James (LuAnne) Shaw, Glenn D. (Kathleen) Shaw, Christine (Glenn) Blevins, James (Debbie) Walbright Jr., David (Candy) Walbright, Jane (Bruce) Rudder, Thomas (Robin) Walbright, and Mary Kay Walbright; 21 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles Shaw; sister-in-law, Maudella (James) Grim; former daughter-in-law, Cheryl Muckenfuss; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friend from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME 1355 W. Main St. in West Jefferson, OH 43162 where funeral service will be Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Columbus, OH.
