Heidi Rivera

January 9, 1942 — October 27, 2023

Honoring Heidi Rivera

“Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord” ~ SONG OF SONGS 8:6

On October 27, 2023, we said farewell to our beloved mother, Heidi Mirasol Rivera, who went home to be with the Lord.

Heidi was a loving & loyal wife to her husband, Edgardo Rivera, whom she adored for 60 years. Together, they had six children: Jornel (Geetha) Rivera, Cyril (Nicole) Rivera, Helena (Sean) Rivera-Wooten, Joyce (Steve) Rivera-Berry, Brian (Emily) Rivera, and Johanna (Eric) Rivera-Klein. She was a dedicated mother and an amazing grandmother and great grandmother to 18 children, whom she nurtured and spoiled when she babysat them. Her family was truly her pride and joy.

She was born on January 9, 1941 in the Municipality of Binalbagan, located in the Philippines, to Jose and Patricia (Buenavista) Mirasol. In 1975, she left her native country with her 6 young children to join her husband who journeyed to America one year prior to prepare a new home and to give a better life for his family. As difficult as it was for Heidi to leave her parents, brothers and sister, her love for them and the people in the Philippines was steadfast. Heidi was always passionate about helping the needy by shipping large boxes full of clothing, shoes, toys and food to her home town. She was determined to provide opportunities to her siblings, nieces and nephews by helping them with their college and education expenses. Heidi was equally passionate about her favorite hobbies such as gardening, fishing, and cooking.

Our mother was truly an epitome of grace and beauty. Our hearts will hurt because we will miss her but we will smile and chuckle at the thought of her sense of humor and corny jokes. Our hearts will feel the emptiness of not having her with us but we will rejoice knowing she’s in a better place.

A memorial will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, RADER-McDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street in West Jefferson, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2PM to 4PM with an intimate, private service for family and close friends, starting at 4PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her name to  IFOPA.

I close my eyes and I see your face. In Christ, there are no goodbyes, and in Christ, there is no end. So I’ll hold onto Jesus with all that I have to see you again.
