Helen L. Gregg, 89, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at Mt. Carmel Hospital of Columbus, Ohio. Born in Johnson County, Kentucky on January 26, 1930, to parents Jeffie and Ruth Stambaugh.
Helen spent many years as a restaurant cook, was a 48-year member of Grange, supported her husband on the family farm, loved traveling and was a faithful Christian who served in a variety of roles at church and in her community. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens and doing needlework.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Galen C. Gregg and grandson Tyson Kaufman. She is survived by her four daughters Shela McIntier of Mt. Sterling, Jo (Steve) Crawford of Grove City, Gail Gregg of Mt. Sterling and Linda (Jim) Davis of Marblehead.
Grandchildren brought great joy to Helen. They include Shelley (Rich) Morris; Caroline (Larry) Sussman; Galen (Stephanie) McIntier; Albert (Kate) McIntier; Lenora (John) Stanford; Nick (Amber) Kaufman; Grace Kaufman; Scott (Tara) DeVenzio; Sara DeVenzio; Tom (Michelle) Davis and Valarie (Dylan) LaReno.
Great-Grandchildren include: Zach (Justin) Wilson and Ryan (Brittany) Wilson; Jacob, Katie and Gregg Morris; Bryan and Ethan McIntier; Ellie, Ben, Hannah, Lydia and Bethany McIntier; Lilly, William and Wyatt Stanford; Nicholas and Avery Kaufman; Brittany and Sam Sussman; Kaylee, Kyia, Autumn and Amber Conner; Brantlee Davis; Andrew and Aria McBride; Atticus LaReno. Great-Great-Grandchild Matthew Wilson.
Other survivors include sister-in-law Angie Stambaugh of Washington and Virginia Gregg of Washington along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Jeffie R. and Ruth V. Stambaugh; brothers Clarence and James Stambaugh and sister Jeannie (Stambaugh) Cook; her in-laws Matthew and Ethel Gregg; several sister and brother-in-laws; nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, February 1, 2019, at the Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home 1355 W. Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 (614) 879-9222. The family will receive visitation prior to the Memorial Service scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the Harvest Chapel Church in West Jefferson. Graveside services will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Harvest Chapel Church.
