James "Jim" R. Barr

James “Jim” Robert Barr, Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the age of 92.  

Jim was born on October 30, 1930, in Milford Center, Ohio.  He was raised by his beloved mother Lila Barr.  In 1950, he married the love of his life, Audrey Anne Brink and together they wrote a love story that went on for 62 years.  

Jim proudly served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force.  He was Active Duty during the Korean War and served as a cryptographer.  

After his military service, Jim embarked on a distinguished 44-year career at the General Motors Columbus Plant.  He hired in as a journeyman in skilled trades and became an excellent tool and diemaker.   Additionally, he served in the union where he rose to a high-ranking leadership role.  He never lost an election, and was well respected by rank and file as well as the highest levels of management.

Jim will be deeply missed.  He will be remembered always as a devoted husband and a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  

He is survived by his four children, Deborah Norris, Donna Heron, James (Carole) Barr, and Bradley (Amy) Barr as well as his many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Family and friends will be received on SUNDAY from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 (614)-879-9222. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on MONDAY, JULY 3, 2023 at 10:30 AM in ST. SIMON AND JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, Ohio, with Father Dwayne McNew, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
