James E. “Jim” Martin, age 59, of Blacklick, OH and formerly of West Jefferson, OH, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017. Jim graduated from West Jefferson High School and worked at Nationwide Insurance, as well as being a coach and sports official for over 30 years. He held many offices in various Central Ohio youth sports associations including the WJYAA, Columbus Diocese Football Association, and was recently inducted into the CWFOA Hall of Fame. Jim was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna and was president of his neighborhood HOA. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Betty Martin as well as two brothers David Campbell and John Martin. He is survived by his wife Kathy Martin, son Andrew (Allison) Engelbert of Johnstown, OH, daughter Colleen (Ken) Mercereau of South Carolina, grandchildren Bobby, Abby, Jimmy, Madison and Parker, brother Roger (Sue) Campbell, sister Janet (Paul) Turner, sister Dee (Scott) Elfrink, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside burial service will immediately follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 530 West Jefferson-Kiousville Rd., West Jefferson, OH 43162.
