Jerry Holland

Jerry Lawrence Holland, 84 of London, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2015 surrounded by his family. His passing followed a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 27, 1931 in London, Ohio, he was raised by his mother Margaret, a school teacher, and his uncles, John and Charlie Holland. He was a 1949 graduate of Plains High School. He proudly served his country in the Korean War as an Army Sargent. Jerry loved the land and farmed for more than 50 years. He farmed with his brother Lawrence and his son Jerry. He was a plant supervisor at several companies including Westinghouse, Grumman Flxible and Industrial Fabricators. He was an active member of St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the West Jefferson Lion’s Club and the American Legion in Grove City. He enjoyed going to the VFW in West Jefferson and he was a longtime patron of Ann and Tony’s Restaurant. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a great help to his children with their 4-H animals. He enjoyed family gatherings and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren at sporting events. Most recently, he enjoyed watching his grandson Joe and great grandson Zach play in the marching band. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 35 years, Vicki Sue and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Jerry(Vicki Jane) Holland, Jillian and Zach; Beth Folsom, Liza(Bennett) Musselman, Lane and Levi; Jonathan(Caitlin) Folsom; Linda(Mark) Bunner, Kathryn(Daniel) Warzoha, Laura, Eric and Brian; Debbie(Byron) Ballah, Joe and Steve(Katie Bowers), Daniel; Carrie Varian(Steve Lawson), Nick and Angie(Andy Knott) Jenkins: Bill(decease), his wife, Cathy Pratt, Angel, Ashley and Billy. He is also survived by his special cousin and friend Francie Holland. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Jerry, his sister Margaret, his brothers; Matt, George, and Lawrence and his sons; Billy and Ron Pratt. Family will receive friends Friday, October 9, from 5–8 p.m. at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home (1355 Main St, West Jefferson, Ohio). Mass of Christian Burial at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10 am . Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Jefferson with Honor Guard provided by West Jefferson VFW.
