Banca “Jim” King, age 89, of West Jefferson, Ohio, went to Heaven on Friday, March 7, 2025. Born in Flatgap, Kentucky to the late Pleas and Lucy (Rowland) King, Jim was a graduate of Hilliards High School, Class of 1954 and attended The Ohio State University before being drafted into the United States Army. Jim proudly served his country as a Lieutenant at Fort Riley, Kansas. He owned and operated King Trucking and was also the Waste Management Director for the City of Springfield, Ohio for many years. Later, Jim worked at Lowe’s and with his son Eric, flipped houses during his retirement. Jim served 12 years as a West Jefferson Village Councilman, a position he greatly enjoyed. The Village of West Jefferson has honored him by lowering their flags to half-mast. Jim and his wife Phyllis attended the First Baptist Church in West Jefferson, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Janice Kay King, his sister Susie Ramey, and his brother-in-law Bill Ramey. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Phyllis King; his children: Mark (Phoebe) King, Lisa (Kurt) Weisheimer, Eric (Kimberly) King, Vikki Louden, Lori Higginbotham, Howard (Tana Lee) Higginbotham; grandchildren: Joshua (Lisa) King, Ashley (Larry) Griffin, Lance Weisheimer, Brooke Weisheimer, Brandon King, Brittany King, Sierra Higginbotham, Michaela Higginbotham, Tyler Higginbotham, Jason Thomas, Heather (Kyle) Shrum; great-grandchildren: Stormie Perry, Hunter King, Carleigh-Ann Griffin, Donaven Griffin, Peyton King, Parker King, Liam King, Indigo Doy, Sapphire Doy, Leanne Higginbotham, Harlee Higginbotham, Kinzee Higginbotham, Samantha Thomas, Blake Thomas, Taylor Shrum, Gaige Shrum; sisters: Marti (Greg) Gibbs and Rachel (Kevin) Trent; brother Robbie King; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his life-long, grade school friends Jim Miller and Jerry (Pat) Fenton.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 1:00pm-2:00pm, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00pm, at the First Baptist Church, 686 West Jefferson Kiousville Road, West Jefferson, Ohio, 43162.
