John Jacob Garver, age 86, of West Jefferson, OH, passed away on May 16, 2024, at Wexner Heritage House. He was Born on January 1, 1938, to the late Clifton and Estella (Sout) Garver in Columbus, Ohio.
John retired from Janitrol after many years of service. Graduate of Central High School, class of 1957. He was a member of the Optimist Club of West Jefferson, Zion Lutheran Church and a football and basketball coach for children’s leagues in West Jefferson. He loved the outdoors and animals, especially horses and dogs. He loved making people laugh and was a master at practical jokes.
Proceeded in death by parents Clifton and Estella (Stout) Garver, brothers
Carl and Harold, sisters Mary Jane Peters and Shirley England, and wives Gatha Lee (Littleton) and Jackie (Stillings).
John is survived by sons Mark Kevin (Jackie) Garver, Michael David Garver, and John Scott Garver. Grandchildren Brittany Gay-Nicole (Patrick McNemar) Garver, Katelyn Rae (Sean Korzenborn) Garver, and Ethan Scott (Chelsea Vocal) Garver. Great-Grandchildren Killian McNemar, Raelynn Elyse Korzenborn, Penny Layne Korzenborn, Kale Alexander Korzenborn and Willow Garver.
The family will receive friends 5-6pm Wednesday, May 22, at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH. A memorial service will be held at 6pm with Pastor Phillip Conrad.
