John D Laferty

John David Laferty, 82 of West Jefferson passed away January 12, 2019. Born on September 27, 1936, in West Jefferson, Ohio, to the late Paul Henry and Sarah Mae (Jester) Laferty. John was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, Class of 1954 and The Ohio State University, Class of 1960. He was a dedicated employee of General Motors for 43 years, Proudly serving 9 years as Financial Secretary of the United Auto Workers, U.A.W. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Cheryl Harmon-Foust, Daughters, Jennalee Laferty Speakman; her sons, Layne Speakman and Aaron Speakman, Lynnette Laferty Newkirk; her daughters, Brooke Newkirk Krueger and Brandy Newkirk DeRoche, Julie Foust; her children, Sophia Nelson, Max Nelson, Victor Nelson, and Ace Nelson. Sons, John David Laferty II (Susan); their sons, John David Laferty III and Jason Laferty, Stephan Michael Laferty, his daughter, Melissa Laferty Layton, Kent Foust (Claira Agnus), William "Curt" Foust (Tiffany), Curtis Laferty, Sister, Susan Laferty Braithwaite (Edward); their children, Karen Braithwaite Salyer, Andrea Braithwaite Glock, Marcie Braithwaite Criss, great-grandchildren and many other family members.
