Mary W. "Winnie" Young

 Mary W. “Winnie” Young, age 85, of Galloway, Ohio, passed away in her home on Friday, November 4, 2022.  Richard Young, her beloved husband, preceded her death in July, 2021.  Born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Laura (Esselstein) and John McMillen, Winnie was a Registered Nurse for Franklin County Board of Health.  Her passion for animal rescue filled her later years.  Working with many animal rescue organizations, Winnie met and cared for thousands of four-legged friends and a few two-legged friends.  A member of the Franciscan Order, she was a faithful parishioner of Saints Simon & Jude Catholic Church in West Jefferson, Ohio.  In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Richard, Winnie was preceded in death by her brother Donald T. McMillen and sister Nancy A. McMillen.  She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, her “heart daughter” Rhonda Sue Iams, many special friends, neighbors, parishioners and four-legged wildlife friends too numerous to name. 

Family will receive friends from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2022 at SAINTS SIMON & JUDE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, OH 43162.  A Franciscan Wake will be offered at 11:00a.m. by Dr. Teena Gallagher, OSF.  Winnie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00p.m. WEDNESDAY with Father Dwayne McNew and other priests of the Columbus Diocese con-Celebrating.  Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lewis Center, Ohio.
