Norita Nelson

Norita Nelson, age 86, of West Jefferson, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023.  Born in London, Ohio to the late Roy and Opal Meadows, Norita was a graduate of London High School, Class of 1956. She was a telephone operator at Ohio Bell for many years. An avid sports fan, Norita loved the Buckeyes, Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs and Pat Mahomes, and the Phoenix Suns.  If she wasn’t watching sports, she was watching her soap operas.  Bingo and card games were her other passions.  Norita was the Master Rummy player!  She was also the “Queen of Cards.”  Norita had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold.  If she had a dime to give, she would give it.  In addition to her parents, Norita was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Michael A. Nelson, who passed in 2020.  She was also preceded in death by her two sons Jon Conwell and Daryl Conwell, and her siblings Paul Meadows and Sylvia Neal.  Norita is survived by her brother David Meadows, her children: Jeff (Lynn) Conwell, Rhonda Sue Iams, Jennifer Veach, and Anna (Alan) Fields, her stepson Anthony Nelson, her grandchildren: Simone Conwell, Stephanie (Rick) Wolf, Kaitlyn (Aaron) Jones, James Veach, Kelsey Veach, Kristen Veach, Charlie (Antwan) Marcum, J.J. Conwell, Brandon Boggs and Corbin Conwell, her five great-grandchildren, sister-in-in-law Diane Meadows, brother-in-law Harold Neal, many nieces and nephews including her special niece Brigitte Kelly Hakes, and many friends. 

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life gathering later when she is laid to rest in the Spring of 2024, at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Michael J.
