Raymond Layne Glock (aka Butch/Wally/Ray/Gator), age 72, lifelong resident of West Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018. He was a proud Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Upon his return from the war, he got a job working for General Motors, and retired from there after 30 years. He was a longtime member of the VFW Post 7005, and served two terms as Commander. An avid motorcyclist, he rode all over the country with his wife, friends, and his special cousin Carl DeLong. Those who knew and loved him will miss his gorgeous smile, ornery sense of humor, and most of all, his big, beautiful heart. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Sparks) Glock, his mother Martha Cox, brother Charles Cox, and sister Louise Lambert. He is survived by his wife Jane (McIntire) Glock; children Lori Barton, Paul “Tony” (Andrea) Glock, and Kathleen “Nicci” Ramey; grandchildren Dylan Gibson, Sara and Joshua Barton, and Martin “Chet” Eldridge; great-granddaughter Aspen Eldridge; sister JoAnn Patterson; many nieces, nephews and great friends. Funeral service 12:00 Friday, at Rader-McDonald Tidd Funeral Home, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, where family will receive friends from 10:00 to 12:00. Burial will follow at Hampton Cemetery. It was Raymond’s request that friends dress casually for his services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 7005.
