Reed Charles Munger, age 95, of Galloway Ohio passed peacefully on May 14, 2024. Born May 25, 1928, in St. Johns, Michigan to the late Rollie and Gladys Munger. A former Boy Scout leader and proud United States Marine, Reed exemplified honor and duty throughout his life. Reed retired from White (New Idea) Farm Equipment in 1990 and was blessed to enjoy 34 healthy years of retirement.
He was a dedicated husband to Joyce Deakins, whom he married in 1954. Their marriage ended too soon with Joyce losing her courageous battle with cancer, leaving a lifelong void in Reed's heart.
Reed found love and companionship once again with Nancy Barton. They spent 40 years together creating life-long memories. He was a longtime member of The Church Next Door and a member of The American Legion Post 486. Reed’s passions for hunting, fishing, his pets and nurturing his garden were only surpassed by his unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy is etched in the hearts of his six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Mark (Jean) Munger, Stephanie (Larry) Hill, Jenine (Ron) Allen. Reed was preceded in death by his parents Rollie and Gladys, siblings Pauline, Keith, Jacquelin, both of his wives Joyce and Nancy, and son Jeffrey Barton.
Reed's resilience, strength, courage, and sacrifice endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him, earning him a place among the Greatest Generation. His spirit and impact will forever be felt in the lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, Reed's great-granddaughter Ava Danielson, requested donations be made to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley, which was Ava's home away from home for over 20 weeks.
