Rex Zent, age 79 of Dublin, Ohio passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from complications after heart surgery. He was born to Robert and Kathryn Zent in 1941 in Ft Wayne, IN. Rex is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 42 years, Karen. He was a wonderful father to sons Brian (Amber) and John and he was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Nolan, Wyatt, & Cora. He is also survived by his brother, Don (Deborah) Zent, brothers-in-law Don (Kim) Minich & Fred (Donna) Minich, sister-in-law Loni Minich, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and his Goddaughter, Mia Upchurch. He is predeceased by his parents and aunts & uncles.
He was a graduate of Ashland University with a BS in Education and a Masters in Education from University of St. Francis (IN) and did further graduate work at Xavier University.
Rex had a 42 year career in Public Service in Ohio, first as a high school history teacher and coach, then on to a 26 year career within the Department of Rehabilitation & Correction. After retiring from the Department, he joined a non-profit, Community Connection, as Vice President of Restorative Justice.
Rex and his family were co-founders and charter members of Dublin Presbyterian Church where he was an ordained Elder and Deacon. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and coaching his and other local children in the Dublin Youth Leagues.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00p.m., SATURDAY, JULY 24, 2021 at DUBLIN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 5775 Dublinshire Drive, Dublin, OH 43017 with The Reverend Jennifer Eastman Hinkle, officiating. Family will receive friends before the service from 12:00p.m.-1:00p.m. SATURDAY. The service will be live-streamed and can be viewed by going to: https://www.dublinpresbyterian.org/alerts.
