Sandra "Sandy" Griffith Phipps

Sandra “Sandy” Griffith Phipps, age 64, of West Jefferson, Ohio, died Thursday, April 10, 2025. Sandy dedicated her life to serving others. She spent many years contributing to her community and volunteering any chance that she got. Some of her favorite volunteer activities included “Christmas in the Park”, coaching youth sports, and leading Girl Scout Troops. Sandy was a member of the West Jefferson High School, Class of 1979 where she enjoyed cheering for the Roughriders. In her free-time you could find Sandy enjoying live music, hosting the most amazing get-togethers, and camping. Most importantly, she loved spending time together with those she cared for most. Sandy’s positivity and kind words of wisdom will be missed by all who knew her. We will forever be in awe of her strength and resilience during her years of battling cancer. Sandy had a large chosen family and was a “bonus mom” to many. A special thanks to Andrea Rice, Alishia Ulrey, Chana Kimbler, Mary Widener, Cheri Forrest, Mandi Maynard, Steven Ray Phipps, Aunt Karen, and Sandy’s life-long best friend Kay Routte, for all of their time, love, and support in Sandy’s final weeks. We are all so lucky to have had Sandy in our lives. She will be missed immeasurably.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Jean Binkley and W. Dave Griffith, her son-in-law Jason Morris, and best friend Patty Martin. Sandy is survived by her beloved husband Timothy Phipps, her children: Melissa (Hunter) Routte, Amanda (Richard) Brickey, Abigail (Robert) Simkins-Stricker, and step-son Shae Phipps; her grandchildren: Brayden (Jayde), Makayla, Kaylyn, Breana, Ricky, Adelaide, Deetrich, Denver, Brooklyn, and Brylee; great-grandchildren: Hendrix, Tegan, and Paisley; siblings: Karen (Cress) Jenkins and Barbara Griffith; in-laws Lois and Roland Phipps; the father of her three daughters Richard Simkins, Jr.; and many friends.

Family will receive friends from 4:00p.m.-6:00p.m. TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2025 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 (614)-879-9222 where her Memorial Service will follow the visitation hours and begin at 6:00p.m. TUESDAY. Ray Martin will officiate the service. After the Memorial Service, Dinner and a Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the VFW Post 7005, West Jefferson.
