Shilowe D. Long

Shilowe Long, 42, of West Jefferson, Ohio left this Earth on Sunday, November 10th, 2024. 

Shilowe was born on April 18th, 1982 to Randy and Debbie Long (Stevens). After he graduated from West Jefferson High School in 2000, he began working a series of jobs that built his experience and wisdom in labor and construction. He landed in what his family and friends called the “perfect job” with his good friend Brandon at Estep Excavating. 

In 2020, Shilowe met his fiancé, Amy O’Malley. We knew she was special when he asked Amy to be his wife during a family vacation on the beach in Hawaii. Shilowe and Amy took pride in raising their two young Roughriders, Kade & Wyatt along with a gaggle of other children in the community. Neighbors say they knew who was at their house by the bikes in the yard. Shilowe spent much of his time wearing brown and gold on the sidelines of the football field as Coach Shi, pouring into the youth of the community. He also enjoyed the outdoors, specifically fishing.

Shilowe’s fortune was within those he surrounded himself with. He loved his family and friends with a fierceness only few can understand. The rest—well, he always had a nice pair of shoes, a fresh fade and a stocked pantry. 

Shilowe was predeceased by his father, Randall Long and Stepfather, Chris Stevens. He is survived by his fiancé, Amy O’Malley, mother, Debbie Stevens, sisters, Leza (Derrick) Holloway, and Chloe Long. His sons Kade Long, Kai Carpenter and Wyatt O’Neal. His nephews Cooper and Maxton Holloway and soon-to-be niece, baby girl Long. 

Visitation will be held at the Cypress Wesleyan Church Student Center, 457 Alton Darby Creek Road, Galloway, OH 43119 on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2024 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation and begin at 4:00p.m. with Pastor Dale George, officiating. After the service, a Celebration of Life gathering will follow at the West Jefferson Community Center, 221 South Center Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Jefferson Youth Athletic Association (WJYAA), P.O. Box 305, West Jefferson, OH 43162, an organization Shilowe felt strongly about.
