Tonopah Laine "Toni" Cox, age 83, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Madison House of London, OH. Born July 31, 1933 in Lincoln County, WV to the late Clifford and Hulda Stowers. Proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. She had a lengthy career in public service, including service with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Attorney's Office in Columbus, OH, the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London, OH, and the Hurt Battelle Memorial Library in West Jefferson, OH. Longtime member of the First Baptist Church of West Jefferson. She was an avid gardener and had a passion for for all creatures, great and small. Preceded in death by husband, Richard W. Cox; brothers, Rexal Stowers and Clifford Stowers Jr; Survived by brother, Byron Stowers; sister-in-law, Phyllis Stowers; children, Kenneth (Viktoriya) Scruggs, Doug (Trish) Stowers, Alicia (Steven) Wade, and Vicki Cox; grandchildren, Kristi, Ross, Alicia, and Jessica; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Friends may call 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October, 23, 2016 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD Funeral Home, 1355 W. Main St. in West Jefferson, OH. Funeral service will follow on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, 686 W. Jefferson- Kiousville Rd. SE in West Jefferson, OH at 10 a.m. Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Interment Hampton Cemetery.
